Each hand-painted Limited Edition Seahorse pen has been colorfully decorated by master Maki-e artist Masato Sato. Just as the Seahorse changes its color according to its environment, so too does the pen in the reflection of natural light. The Seahorse image is depicted using the "Raden" lacquering technique of applying mother-of-pearl. The seaweed around the Seahorse is created using the Togidashi (burnished) maki-e technique, by which rubbing away the top layer of lacquer reveals the vivid colors beneath. The design skillfully portrays the Seahorse with its tail attached to algae on the seabed drifting gently in the fluid water.
Only 300 pens have been produced worldwide making each Seahorse fountain pen owner truly privileged. A superior piston converter and precision 18-karat medium gold nib guarantee a pleasure filled writing experience. Attractively displayed in a classic gift box, The Limited Edition Seahorse fountain pen from Namiki is truly a masterpiece that will be embraced by fine pen collectors worldwide."
